With 79 percent of precincts reporting, Huckabee was leading with 62 percent compared to McCain’s 22. It was the first GOP nominating contest since the Arizona senator notched big wins on Super Tuesday and cemented his role as the likely Republican presidential nominee.

Despite the comfortable victory in Kansas, Huckabee lags far behind McCain in the number of delegates earned.
